United Way España’s soup kitchen support project aims to strengthen the work of social entities that run these spaces, helping to improve the quality of life of the people who benefit from them.
The intervention takes place through the participation of corporate volunteers, who help with the daily operation of the soup kitchens, supporting tasks such as meal preparation and service, logistics organization and attending to users. Beyond covering a basic need, the project also creates spaces for connection and closeness, fostering dignified and humane treatment. It also raises volunteers’ awareness of the reality of social vulnerability, fostering commitment and involvement in social impact initiatives.
In a context in which many people and families find themselves in vulnerable situations, access to adequate food remains a basic need that is not always guaranteed. Soup kitchens play a fundamental role in covering this need, as well as in caring for and supporting people at risk of social exclusion.
The project integrates covering basic needs with the active participation of volunteers, contributing both to the immediate wellbeing of beneficiaries and to social awareness.
It combines direct action in soup kitchens with the commitment of corporate volunteers, strengthening the operation of social entities and improving their capacity for care.
In this way, the initiative generates a double social impact: on one hand, it improves the living conditions of people in vulnerable situations, and on the other, it promotes greater social awareness and commitment.
For me, it was an experience I couldn't have imagined, super satisfied to have been able to participate, a very well-spent time.
Contributing my grain of sand and being able to help people who need it.
