Fundación United Way España launches the Live United initiative in June, focused on rebuilding our community to be a stronger, more equitable place after the COVID-19 pandemic.
While United Way España has always focused on helping the most vulnerable in Spain, working to close the gap in health, financial stability and education, we recognize that the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and ethnic and racial inequalities have widened that gap. Our community needs to work together to reinvent and rebuild itself as a stronger, more equitable place where everyone can thrive.
Around the world, United Way has been working to help communities respond to the COVID-19 crisis. The billion dollars raised by United Way for COVID-19 relief efforts globally are now in our communities.
The funds raised have helped more than 27 million people stay in their homes, feed their families, keep the lights on and more.
We also know that real recovery will take time. We are far from done with our task. Millions of jobs have been lost; teachers and parents worry about learning loss, especially for minority and low-income children, and United Way teams are still responding to requests for help.
Rebuilding isn’t about going back to where we were. It’s about reinventing how we can be better and working together toward that idea. Help us live united.
